How to Use the Verkada Pass App for Your Building Access – Resident FAQ
This FAQ is designed for residents in multi-dwelling communities (MDUs) using the Verkada TD63 Intercom and Verkada Pass mobile app for secure building access.
1. How do I open the door using the Verkada Pass app?
- Install the Verkada Pass App and sign in with your resident credentials.
- Open the app and tap the Intercoms or Doors tab to view the doors you have permission to unlock.
- Find your building’s main door, then tap the lock icon. When the icon turns green, the door is unlocked for the preset duration.
- If the icon turns red, access was denied—contact building management.
2. How do I remove or revoke my ability to open the door?
- Only your building’s administrator can revoke access in Verkada Command.
- Ask management to remove your user from the appropriate Access Group or disable Remote Unlock / Bluetooth Unlock permissions.
- Once removed, your doors will no longer appear in the Pass app. You may also uninstall or sign out of the app.
3. How do I accept guest calls and open the door for them?
Via the Pass App:
- When a visitor presses the intercom button, you’ll receive a push notification in the Pass app.
- Open the notification or go to the Intercoms tab to answer the call.
- You can see live video (if enabled), speak to the visitor, and tap the unlock icon to open the door.
Via a Phone Call (if enabled by your building):
- Some systems also route calls to your phone. When you answer, you can speak with the visitor.
- To unlock the door, press any number key (0-9) during the call. This command triggers the unlock.
Tips:
- Make sure your contact information is current so calls and app notifications reach you.
- If you don’t answer, the system may route to a backup number or building concierge.
- Always verify visitors before unlocking for safety.
4. Troubleshooting the Verkada Pass App
- Check your permissions: Confirm your building admin has granted you Remote or Bluetooth unlock rights.
- Bluetooth & Location:
- iOS: Enable Bluetooth and allow Location Services Always.
- Android: Enable Bluetooth and Location permissions.
- Internet connection: Ensure you have Wi-Fi or cellular data when using Remote Unlock.
